ABOUT SIDEDOWN AND JOSHUA WENTZ
I'm not too concerned about doing many projects; I prefer to do good projects.
Sidedown began, in 2002, as a way to keep my design skills sharp over the summer after I graduated from architecture school. The site served as entertainment, with daily journal updates, music and movie reviews, etc., and doubled as an online portfolio. A place where I could show some work, when I had any to show.
Soon after the project began, I realized that reading about myself every day was not very exciting. I started to recruit friends to take part in filling the site with content. I'm lucky to have very talented writers, photographer, and artists as friends.
Over the next several years the site maintained its dual status of online community and freelance portfolio. In 2005, Sidedown.org was built to house the community aspects, while this site was devoted completely to design work, music, and original products.
In 2007, SIDEDOWN LLC was formed, creating a design agency with a focus on having no focus. It was important for me to make distinction between working for other people and working for myself by doing work for others. Inarguably, the latter is most appealing.
This year, SIDEDOWN will be concentrating more on music and design for music, as well as our publishing endeavors. Let what you love be what you do, they say.
