It's Official: Sidedown Audio is open for business.
We're pleased to present you with our first two albums here on the Sidedown label. Castrovalva by Jeremy Simmons, and GMOVJ by Joshua Wentz are now available for purchase in our online shop!
Please take a moment to sample the music, read up on our label artists, and tell all your friends what we're up to... this music deserves to hit as many ears as possible.
Design and music are best friends.
Sidedown Audio is a boutique music label that curates work from solo home-recording artists and pairs it with handmade design. The result is a limited edition hard copy album with screen printed cover art. Musicians get to keep the rights to all of their work, and we get to design album jackets. Everybody gets what they want!
The first label releases will take place in June 2008. Sidedown Audio will release between four and six full-length albums per year, each in a limited edition of 500-1000.
The best music deserves unique design and analog existence. We treat albums as artifacts, as "records", even (though let's be clear, we're not currently offering anything in vinyl). Additionally, EPs and catalog compilations will be available as downloads and audio streams throughout the year. We're not completely divorcing ourselves from the Internet, after all.
Apart from the label, Sidedown composes and records music for film, produces weekly podcasts, and writes music reviews for multiple publications. We love music, you see, and can't stop thinking about it.
