A monograph is defined as "a detailed written study of a single specialized subject or an aspect of it". That definition only mildly applies to this book.

Sidedown is a decidedly random collective of writers, artists, musicians, designers and appreciators- it's only fitting that a book "about" the website/organization should be the same: random, fun, and inherently collaborative.

Over the course of 2006, we have created and compiled stories, artwork, and design concepts from individuals related to Sidedown in some way. Some of these people are long-time friends and participants, others are fresh new additions to our world.

The resultant of bringing such a disparate group of people and ideas together is Sidedown Monograph Number One, a 200-page book containing work from 11 creators. The book is 6x9 inches, with several handmade extras (limited edition print, stickers, handmade outer sleeve, 1.25" button, etc.)

Though there is no true subject for the book, participants were given an open subject that they could opt to focus on: An Enemy's Friend. This topic spans not only the monograph but also is the title of the new album from Des Sovere (a quasi-companion piece to the book).

Pete Akins, Sidedown co-founder, has written a forward for the book.

In conjunction with the album by Des Sovere, Lysbeth Barkley, Ana Maria Osorio, and Will Pesta have published their album artwork in the book.

Ed Gentry, a fantasy author, presents a fast-paced, real world(ish) look at what can happen when friendships are based on an ideal.

Jeff LaSala, author of the upcoming fourth book of the Eberron "Inquisitives" series, explores the crucial role of a friendship on the battlefront.

John LaSala and Joshua Wentz bring us "32 Conceivable Prologues" to their collaborative song "32 Country Classics on Vinyl", which appears on the Des Sovere album "An Enemy's Friend". There's no explaining this one, you just have to see it for yourself.

Emily Martin presents some of her latest letterpress, GOCCO, bookbinding and graphic design work from OrangeBeautiful.

Harley Stroh has written many campaigns for Goodman Games' Dungeon Crawl Classics, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. True to form, Harley has written not one but two short stories for the book that delve into the complexities of loving relationships.

Jeremy Simmons, jack of all trades, presents a short story and several pages of artwork, all of which question our notion of a happy life within our society.

What's left of the monograph is filled with art and design work by Sidedown creator Joshua Wentz.
